Joe Soprani will be co-hosting the Don Giovanni Show in Philadelphia, PA at WPHT
the Big Talker 1210 AM on March 6, 2004 from 6-7 PM. The Don Giovanni
Show is described as a big old-fashioned Italian house party on the radio. It
features the music of great Italian American entertainers such as Frank Sinatra,
Dean Martin and others. It also features celebrity interviews and other special
interest items such as recipes. A
great fan of the accordion, the Don Giovanni (pictured right) March 6th show,
co-hosted by Joe Soprani will feature the music of well known Italian-American
accordionists Dick Contino, Angelo DiPippo, Dominic Cortese, Vito di Salvo, the
late Charles Magnante and many more. In addition, Mr. Soprani will appear
with the Westmont Accordion Orchestra at the American Accordion Musicological
Society 17th Annual Festival at the Wyndham Valley Forge Suites, Wayne, Pa. on
March 5,-7, 2004. In addition to his performance, he will also scheduled to give
a workshop on Accordion Transcriptions. Joe
is a noted accordionist, educator, arranger-composer whose reputation among professionals
places him in the first ranks of contemporary accordionist. He has dominated the
accordion scene in Philadelphia for over forty years playing in major concert
halls, theaters, TV Shows and Hotels. He holds the distinction of being the only
accordionist in the history of the Philadelphia Orchestra to appear as a featured
soloist under Eugene Ormandy. (Joe is pictured left after a concert with famed
tenor Russell Watson). While accordion soloist with the USAF Band in
Washington, DC under Col. George S. Howard, he won the "The Air Force Roger",
the most prestigious entertainment award in the US Air Force. He also was
the first accordion soloist with the PA Army National Guard Band "The Adjutant
General's Own" for over eight years. On
five occasions, Soprani appeared with opera singer Luciano Pavarotti at the Spectrum
in Philadelphia and has performed for President Eisenhower at the White
House. To add to his impressive list of credentials, Soprani was invited
to arrange the opening selection for Rock star Jon Bon Jovi's 1996 world tour
and has also written the official song for the International Rotary Club.
Soprani, who is the in-house accordionist on the Don Giovanni Show, can be
